Vestal Virgins

Rome Italy Tourist Information and City Guide

The House of the Vestal Virgins in Ancient Rome was home to Rome's only female priests. The rather large complex contained a rectangular courtyard consisting of three ponds.

Six Vestal women were selected from Noble families at the age of 10 and were expected to serve as priests for 30 years.
