Domus Flavia Palace, Palatine Hill, Rome Italy

The Flavian Palace was completed in 92 AD and was part of the vast residential complex of the Roman Emperors that was located on Palatine Hill in ancient Rome.  The staircase, shown above, was part of the entrance way to the palace.  While the Domus Flavia Palace was used for state functions, the Roman Emperor resided mainly the nearby Domus Augustana Palace.
