The bronze and gold altar at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome is called the Baldachin Altar (Altar Baldachin).

Located directly above the tomb of St. Peter in Vatican City, the alter and canopy is a Gianlorenzo Bernini masterpiece.  It was built between 1624 and 1633.
